A farmer's ripe paddy in a crop field on Nalitabari border in Sherpur. A group of wild elephants attack this paddy almost every day. Some of the rice is eaten, the rest is trampled and mixed with the ground. It is like giving a ladder to ripe rice. At the moment of bringing home the golden harvest, the wild elephants are rampaging, and the farmer's head and sleep are forbidden. Chases to chase the herd of elephants to protect the crops, human versus elephant fight. By lighting torches, making loud noises, turning on electric lights from generators and adopting other techniques, farmers are unable to protect their emerging crops. Accidents happen while chasing elephants. Khalil Miah of Burunga Kalapani village and Alam Miah of nearby Lakshmikura village were injured in the attack of elephants while protecting the ripe paddy in Nalitabari on Saturday morning.

Locals said that a group of 30-35 wild elephants including children have been rampaging in Batkuchi Tilapara hilly areas and nearby villages for about three weeks. A farmer named Omar Ali Mistry was killed by a wild elephant attack in Batkuchi Tilapara bordering Nalitabari upazila on the night of 25th April while guarding Uti Boro paddy field.

On the evening of May 2, 30-35 wild elephants with calves entered Burunga Kalapani village. Attacked the crop field. Locals try to drive off herds of wild elephants. Throughout the night, elephants chase people. Even after the dawn of May 4, the wild elephants did not leave the crop field and the villagers chased the elephants. Wild elephants also chase them.

At one point, the locals chased wild elephants. At this time, Khalil Mia's left leg was crushed by the elephant's feet. But survive. On the other hand, the wild elephant throws Alam Mia away with its trunk. Alam hangs high on the branches of the tree. When the herd of elephants climbed the hill, the locals brought Khalil and Alam home. In the last 5 days, 5-6 acres of ripe paddy in Mannach Ali, Nashar Ali, Siddique, Khalil, Sohail, Rupchan has been destroyed by wild elephants. The garden has been destroyed. So the farmer is cutting half-ripe paddy out of fear. Mentioning their plight, the villagers demanded supply of diesel, lights, solar fencing and generators to light torches to drive away the elephants.
