石川県白山市の白山比咩（しらやまひめ）神社です。
この神社のお名前、皆さんは読めましたか？ 私は何度も調べて、やっと覚えることができました。珍しい漢字が、含まれているからでしょうか。

霊峰白山（はくさん）をご神体として、すべての生き物の祖である神様 白山比咩大神（菊理媛神くくりひめのかみ）をおまつりしたのが起源だそうです。お社がおまつりされたのは、紀元前91年とされ、2100年以上の歴史をほこります。

現在は、「白山（はくさん）本宮」「加賀一ノ宮」であり、「白山（しらやま）さん」として親しまれ、北陸鎮護の大社として、また、白山信仰の総本社として、広く崇敬されています。

今回レクシィは、白山の頂上にご鎮座される奥宮への登拝はかないませんでしたが、白山市全域が日本ジオパークの「白山手取川ジオパーク」に認定されており、古くから守り継がれてきた、自然豊かな地にお鎮まり下さっていることを、とてもありがたく感じられる参拝となりました。
次回はぜひ、奥宮にもお参りさせていただきたいです。

Lexi visited Shirayama Hime Shrine, Ishikawa, Japan.

It is the Head Shrine of Hakusan Faith and also the Grand Shrine protecting Hokuriku Region.. It is also Kaga Ichinomiya (the Head Shrine of Ishikawa Prefecture), founded in 91 BC. Many people believe it is one of the most powerful sacred places in Japan.

BTW, Shirayama and Hakusan are just difference sound in Japanese when we read the Kanji letters, “白山”, literally meaning “white mountain”. In winter, the sacred mountain is covered with thick snow.

Seeing the beautiful rice fields, the deep forests and the sound of the streams in Hakusan City, I could see the region have been blessed by nature. I was grateful for all of them been well preserved. And I believe they are all provided by the abundance of precious water flowing from Mt. Hakusan.

Next time, I would like to have more time to spend in Hakusan City to explore nature and history including visiting the Okumiya Shrine on the top of Mt. Hakusan.
