Jason Schmidt experienced a cardiac arrest while coaching his son, Trevor’s, basketball team. Thankfully, people nearby knew to begin CPR and retrieve an automated external defibrillator. As a survivor and a school district superintendent, Jason is calling upon Congress to pass the HEARTS Act and Access to AEDs Act to ensure schools across the country are prepared to respond to a cardiac arrest.
