Currently tribal governments, Indigenous peoples and citizens of the United States are advocating to defend the 2001 Alaska Roadless Rule, an administrative rule that protects almost 10 million acres of the world's largest intact old growth temperate rainforest from harmful natural resource extraction.

The public comment period for the 2001 Alaska Roadless Rule is open from November 23, 2021 - January 24, 2022.

In this clip, Kaachgóon/Rochelle Smallwood shares perspectives on the Roadless Rule. Kaachgóon is Yaxté Hít Taan- born, raised, currently residing and creating on her ancestral homeland, Áak'w Kwáan Aaní (Juneau-Douglas, Alaska). She is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is tied to nature, storytelling, and keeping our spoken and visual languages alive.
