It’s Day 5 of the Killing Perfectionism in Classical challenge - I’m halfway there!

This piece, Kokopeli (Katherine Hoover), is about the ancient and legendary Hopi hero who led migrations through the Southwest with the sound of his flute echoing through the great canyons and cliffs.

You’ve undoubtedly seen figurines or artwork of him - he’s the hunchbacked flute player with the crazy hair. The first petroglyphs of him were carved around 3,000 years ago.

His flute playing is said to have healing properties - helping the crops to grow and women to become pregnant… I’d say that’s some powerful flute music!

When I play Kokopeli, I like to think of the wind wailing through the canyons as I hike up to a rocky cliff, watch a lone eagle soaring through the mountains, and then carefully make my way down to the sound of the roaring wind.
