The Cobbler, also known as Ben Arthur, is a mountain at the head of Loch Lomond. The mountain itself is known for its rock climbing, considered some of the best in the Southern Highlands.

The trail is mostly large and well maintained, but there are some muddy sections and some points that require skipping across stepping stones to cross streams, therefore, grippy and waterproof footwear is advised.

The final ascent up the Cobbler's south face is verging on a graded scrmable, and requires good footwork.
If you want to avoid this, you can continue along the valley and ascend via the descent route.

The Cobbler has three summits, with the middle summit being the highest and most difficult to reach. It requires careful navigation and a very exposed scramble through a hole, or needle, to reach a tall rock outcrop.
Climbing through this gap is called 'threading the eye of the needle' and legend has it one must thread the eye of the needle to earn the right to be chief of Clan Campbell.

Whether you choose to attack this summit or not, you will enjoy stunning views of Loch Lomond and the surrounding highlands throughout this hike.
