Welcome back to Wildwestfaces, In this episode we hear that in the summer of 1839 around twenty Kiowa warriors set out on a raid for El Paso,Texas. on the way they were ambushed by Mexican militia at a place known as Hueco Tanks, in the Chihuahuan Desert of western Texas . This place was a rocky mountain outcrop of caves and crevices surrounded by desert.
The Kiowa took refuge in the natural labyrinth from the numerous soldiers hunting them, they could hold out here indefinitely but the problem with this position was there was no water or food to be found in this part of the natural complex.
