Pespire is a municipality in the department of Choluteca in the Republic of Honduras.

The origin of its name, Pespire, means "River of the Little Pyrites" which is composed of Petztli, like the word Li which means: Water or River, being one of the dialects of Honduras. It is believed that “Pyrites” was a bright yellow mineral, but it meant Stone.
