A former police detective allegedly strangled a pregnant woman to prevent her from blowing the cover on their alleged relationship. Matthew Farwell is accused of grooming Sandra Birchmore when she was underage while she participated in his department’s Explorers program. Birchmore was found dead in her Canton apartment in February 2021. Her death was originally ruled as self-inflicted until investigators discovered evidence allegedly linking Farwell to the killing.
