The Salve Regina, exit hymn (Fortem virili pectore or "How blest the woman"), and intrumental postlude from the Durandus Institute's Mass on the feast of St. Hildegard of Bingen, patroness of our institute, on September 17, 2024. The liturgy was offered according to the traditional Dominican rite. This event was co-sponsored by the Collegium Institute for Catholic Thought & Culture at the University of Pennsylvania.

Audio from Christa Dalmazio, who also directed the musicians for this liturgy. Photos from Miriam Cunningham and Jan Jelski.

Text of the exit hymn:
1. How blest the woman who, endu’d
With holy zeal and fortitude,
Hath won through grace a saintly fame
And owns a dear and honoured name.
2. Such holy love inflam’d her breast
She would not seek on earth her rest,
But, strong in faith and patience, trod
The narrow way that leads to God.
3. She learn’d, through fasting, to control
The flesh that weigheth down the soul,
And then, by pray’r’s sweet food sustain’d,
To seek the joys she now hath gain’d.
4. O Christ, from whom all virtue springs,
Who only doest wondrous things,
With her unceasing pray’r on high
In mercy hear Thy people’s cry.
5. All laud to God the Father be;
All praise, eternal Son to Thee;
All glory, as is ever meet,
To God the Holy Paraclete. Amen.
