After an explosion this morning, a pipeline fire in the Houston suburb of La Porte has forced surrounding neighborhoods, including Brookglen, to be evacuated and prompted shelter-in-place orders for two nearby elementary schools. It also sparked several grass fires, and several nearby homes appeared to have smoke and water damage.

Firefighters were battling the flames; however, the operator of the natural gas pipeline says the fire must burn itself out. One firefighter was treated for a minor injury.
