But before we get started, let's talk a bit about the history of Conch Republic Days. Back in 1982, Key West residents were fed up with the US Border Patrol setting up a checkpoint and causing significant traffic delays to catch drug smugglers.

So, they seceded from the Union and declared themselves the Conch Republic - a tongue-in-cheek nod to their reputation as a haven for eccentric characters.

Conch Republic Days is an annual celebration of that event, featuring parades, parties, and plenty of drinking. And that's precisely what we did during our weekend in Key West.

Overall, our weekend in Key West during Conch Republic Days was one for the books. We drank, we partied, and we soaked up the unique atmosphere of this eccentric island city.
