We received this audio from Maryam Srour, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) field communications manager in #Beirut. She shares her experience of what happened during and after Friday night’s bombardment in southern Beirut. Thousands of people, including MSF teams, had to flee their homes in the dark with nothing; some on foot. It’s a chaotic situation. Our teams are working around the clock in Beirut, delivering water, hygiene kits, and blankets. People are sleeping in cars on the streets and hospitals are overwhelmed with the wounded. Over 500 schools are full.

So far, teams have delivered 400 kits of basic relief items to shelters, including hygiene materials and mattresses. We are also providing water and offering psychological first aid to those in need. Our teams continue to assess the needs and deliver help.

As the Israeli bombardment campaign of Lebanon continues, we reiterate our call that civilians and health care workers must be protected. #worldnews  #doctorswithoutborders
