If you are either planning a visit to St. Johns, Florida or are thinking of moving to St. Johns, FL here are some of my favorite family-friendly activities to do!

Outdoor Activities:

Parks: There are tons of parks to explore in St. Johns, FL. Some of them are neighborhood specific but there are also a ton of public parks you can visit. Some of my favorites is Alpine Groves Park, Veterans Park, and Treaty Park.
Beaches: Want a free and fun way to get your kids energy out? Take them to the beach! My favorite beaches are Mickler’s Landing Beach, St. Augustine Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach, and Vilano Beach. Here in St. Johns, FL we make going to the beach an entire experience. We bring speakers, we got Publix subs, snacks, drinks, bring footballs, volleyballs, chairs, umbrellas, towels and more. I’d highly recommend getting a wagon that can wheel over the sand to help you carry everything from your car to the beach!
Sunset Cruises: There are several cruises that go out of St. Augustine. There are sailboats, tiki cruises, and even a private ship to take you out and explore the waters.
Alligator Farm: In St. Augustine, there is an alligator farm that you can take your family to see and learn about alligators.
Sunflower Fields: Want to go pick some sunflowers? Head over to Sykes Family Farms or Amazing Grace Farms.
Strawberry Picking: Spend an afternoon picking strawberries at Wesley Wells Farms in St. Augustine, Florida.

St. Johns, FL offers a variety of family-friendly dining options. From seafood shacks, to cafes, to burger joints you are sure to find something to satisfy everyone’s taste buds. Some of my favorites are Salt Life Seafood Shack, Pizalley’s Italian Restaurant, Metro Diner, the Conch House, Grumpy’s & more.

Cultural Experiences:

St. Johns County is home to the Historic District of St. Augustine which is America’s oldest city. There is tons of history to explore in this area. If you have younger kids I highly recommend taking them to the Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum. Here there are tons of unusual artifacts, incredible art, animal oddities, pop-culture memorabilia, and interactive games. If your have family members who love history there are several tours of St. Augustine that you can take. Including the trolley tour that gives you an overview of the city, a tour of the Castillo de San Marcos Fort, and even a ghost tour!

Events & Festivals:

The Player’s Championship Golf Tournament: Every March, our town hosts one of the biggest golf tournaments. There are tons of activities to do besides watch the golf tournament and as far as golf tournaments go is one of the most fun to attend.
St. Augustine Fair: The fair comes to town every spring and is very fun to take your family to ride the rides and win some prizes.
Music by the Sea: Every Wednesday May-September there is a free concert in St. Augustine at Pier Park near the beach.
Food and Wine Festival: Every May St. Augustine hosts the food and wine festival where many great chefs and wine experts bring in the best of the best for you to taste and enjoy.
Fall Festivities: from Oktoberfest, to fall festivals, to pumpkin patches and corn mazes - you’ll be sure to find a fall related event almost any weekend in the fall.
Riverside Arts Market: The locals really enjoy this weekly event every Saturday from 10:00am - 3:00pm where you will find local small business. Everything from fruit, baked goods, and plants to cutting boards, jewelry, and art.
Night of Lights: Every Christmas season the big hit around here is Night of Lights in St. Augustine. Every building and tree is lit with Christmas lights and is truly a magical experience. There is a huge Christmas tree in the middle of a courtyard where families love to take family photos together.
