Walt Disney World's Innoventions, which opened at Epcot in 1994, brought with it exhibits showcasing the technology of the future. But as time went on and exhibiting companies began to drop out of the pavilion, what resulted was a slow abandonment of the area, as areas were boarded up and blocked off. But when Disney finally completed changes just this year, it didn't do much to remedy the decline.

With talk over the last few months about the failures of CommuniCore Hall, I've been thinking a lot about the decline of Epcot's Innoventions and the sad story of its history and what we ended up with. I wanted to do a history of the area from start to finish, but mainly focusing on Innoventions because I think that era was so interesting. Let's take a look at the rise and fall of Disney's Innoventions, and the failures of what came after it.
