은어, 연어, 두꺼비, 남생이 등 강에 사는 생명체들의 삶을 입체적으로 다룬 자연다큐멘터리 물은 높은 곳에서 낮은 곳으로 자기만의 길을 만들면서 흘러간다. 그러면서 다양한 생명들에게 새로운 삶의 터전을 제공하게 된다. 은어, 연어, 황어, 꼬치동자개, 갈겨니 등 다양한 수중생명들이 그 안에서 자신들만의 삶의 방식을 구현하며 살아가고 있다. 하지만, 수중세계가 결코 자연에서 독립된 하나의 생태계가 아니기 때문에 이들은 다시 물 밖의 세계와 연결되어 전체 생태계의 일부로 존재한다. 강의 안팎에서 벌어지는 생존의 몸부림은 치열하지만 아름답다. 그들간의 경쟁과 먹이사슬에서 벌어지는 삶을 있는 그대로의 모습으로 담아낸다.
