Welcome to the second video in a 3-part series on extreme frugality.

In 2010, we decided to save $30,000 in order to pay cash for our new home. The problem was: we were raising four sons and our income was about $40,000 a year.

We took stock of our assets:

1. We owned the home we were living in (having paid off that mortgage in 5 years).
2. We had some savings already set aside to pay for a new home.
3. We were accustomed to living a frugal lifestyle.

We decided that we could meet the goal of saving the additional $30,000 that we needed and gave ourselves 2 years to do it.
