A fine weather window gave us a great opportunity to spend longer than expected above the bush line avoiding the sandflies and enjoying the fabulous views!
We had given ourselves plenty of lay days if the weather wasn't great which made for a very relaxed, laid back trip when we stuck this great weather window.
A heavy dump of snow earlier in the week validated us carrying crampons & ice axes but in the end most had melted before we reached the tops.
A chopper from Makarora dropped us off at Albert Burn Hut and we spent a leisurely three days walking up the valley before crossing Albert Burn Saddle to camp below the saddle for a couple of days.
Strong winds and showers had us then dropping into the East Matukituki here we enjoyed more fine weather to climb Sisyphus Peak and then walk out to Raspberry Creek.
