Koh Rong Island is the second largest island in Cambodia. It's located near Sihanoukville. The island is approximately 78 square kilometers and has a 61 km long coastline with around 43 km of sandy beaches. Almost all interior of the island is forested. The island is popular with backpackers making it a bit party place. There are numerous paradise beaches with turquoise waters, diving center, snorkeling activity, boat trips, bars, restaurants, guesthouses and resorts.

Sok San Beach (also known as Long Beach or Southwestern Beach) is the longest beach on the island of Koh Rong in Cambodia. The beach is located in the southwest of the island. It is 7 km kilometers of soft white sand along the turquoise calm water of the Gulf of Thailand. The peculiarity of beaches on Koh Rong is the abundance of plankton in the coastal waters. This plankton phosphorescent in the moonlight, creating an amazing scenery at night. The glowing plankton can be only seen in places away from artificial light sources.
