Find out what it takes to race Scotland's hardest 24 hour winter MTB race. The Strathpuffer returned in 2024 to test endurance, MTB skills and pure grit.

With over 600 riders competing, this was no small event. The goal is to do as many laps as possible of a 12km and 300m loop through Contin forest in the Scottish highlands. I entered as a pair with my friend and rode through the night with a mere 2 hours sleep. This MTB race is like no other!

My bike of choice was my short travel Vitus Rapide FS and a set of Michelin Wild XC tyres. Magicshine lights provided the lumens to keep me going through the night. Given this is winter, there were 17 hours of darkness! The course was a mixture of fire roads, trail centre red graded tracks and technical climbs and descents.

I managed 10 laps totalling 133km and 3650m of elevation. As a pair we racked up 16 laps.
