Our second offering from Curved Air's 1972 album Phantasmagoria. "Marie Antoinette" was the opening track on the first side and reached No. 20 in the UK Charts. The album is notable for its early use of the EMS Synthi 100 synthesizer to process lead singer Sonja Kristina's voice although this process was not utilised on this particular song. Unavailable for many years, the album was reissued on CD in April 2007. It was recorded in April 1972 at Advision Studios, London and released on the Warner Brothers label. The image at 05:00 is the actual prison that Marie Antoinette was kept in before her execution and the final image is the Funerary Monuments of King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette located in the Basilica of Saint-Denis, Île-de-France.
