Part asphalt, part dirt, the Burr Trail extends from Boulder in Utah to Bullfrog on Lake Powell. Meet the new friends I met on the way and travel through the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, Capitol Reef National Park, and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area with me.

"This is the most God-forsaken and wild looking country that was ever traveled“ stated Josephine Catherine Chatterly Wood in 1882 about the Burr Trail. Roughly 140 years later, I was about to follow her footsteps. Here is how to travel the Burr Trail right and not to miss out on the best sights:

- Stay a night in Boulder at the B&B Annie's Place and enjoy the views on the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. But Annie is not present. Instead Jared will be your host. Enjoy the best breakfast you had all day - and soak up all his information about the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument, Boulder and the Burr Trail
- Hit the road early in the morning and get petrol in Boulder downtown. There are no gas stations before Lake Powell.
- Ride the first section of the Burr Trail through the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument that takes you through the Gulch and Long Canyon
- Stop at the singing canyon, hike into the beautiful slot canyon with its high rock walls ... and sing! The echo is amazing!
- Section 2 of the Burr Trail takes you through Capitol Reef National Park. The asphalt ends here and a good dirt road starts
- The best part of Burr Trail: The Burr Trail switchbacks! Drive cautious to not fall down the cliffs!
- Section 3 of the Burr Trail takes you along Waterpocket Fold - with amazing views and a gravel road like an Autobahn
- Drive through the Bullfrog Creek Crossing. This part of the Trail can be flooded and impassable if Lake Powells waters are high
- Arrive in Bullfrog and hope that there will be a ferry to Halls Crossing.
Good Luck! ;)
