Learning AI and machine learning all by yourself is hard. But going to college to get a degree is even harder. And, if you are a chemist like me or you're in a major that is not related to computer science, it is even harder because we cannot simply take courses in machine learning at college for various reasons. It is time for recruiters to recognize this. For me, with no coding or computer science background, learning to code all by myself and then learning machine learning from online courses, workshops and bootcamps was very hard. After all the hard work, an even more difficult problem was showing credibility to a recruiter. There are some key steps that will make your profile more credible to a recruiter. ML projects are your gateway to a good job in this field. Focus on a handful of algorithms and understand the essence of what you are trying to achieve and gain experience in tackling the common problems people face as ML and AI engineers or scientists.

Whether you are a freshman in college or a graduate student, learning to code when no one else in your field is coding will instantly make you more productive and climb higher up the competitive ladder. Your programming skills will make you stand out when searching for a job. Using python to carryout data analysis can add value to your profile and improves your job search process. With AI and Machine Learning skills you can uniquely position yourself in the job market. Now is your opportunity to transition to AI and machine learning to build exciting new tools. This will save you a lot of time and your company or organization a lot of money as well. Your hard work now will payoff soon! Do not give up!

Stay tuned to stay ahead of the curve in the world of science!

Welcome to ChemCoder. As a computational chemist myself, I had to transition to AI and ML towards the end of my PhD program and I have to admit, it was a lot of learning, making mistakes and late nights. If you are a graduate student, freshman, sophomore or a senior in college and wondering if this field of chemistry and programming is for you, you ARE in the right place! We as chemists or as scientists in general have a very unique position to learn and integrate our coding skills to bring new technology and innovation to the world. The future depends on us and our ability to learn, stay motivated and persistent in this difficult field. Join our community as we strive to get better every day.
