During the citizen comment portion of a July 9 Allen City Council meeting, speakers became heated over a debate on open carry rights in the council chambers. A speaker at the June 25 meeting openly carried a holstered handgun while criticizing Councilmember Lauren Doherty, which some citizens interpreted as an attempt of intimidation.
