Mention Marx Trains, and most collectors think of the pre-World War 2 tinplate, three rail, O gauge trains and their reproductions. But Marx continued to make toy trains into the 1970s; in 1957, Marx joined Lionel and American Flyer in offering a lineup of HO Scale trains in addition to their O gauge offerings. While not as detailed as premium brands like Athearn's offerings, the Marx products provided a fair amount of scale fidelity at a great price. After Marx failed, Model Power purchased all the HO tooling and continued to use it to produce its starter sets, putting its own lettering on the original Marx designed shells.

I decided to run my entire Marx HO Scale collection (such as it is) for this video. Running on the layout, we have:

* A Marx NYC Hudson, followed by a Marx boxcar hand painted into Union Pacific colors by a previous owner. It is followed by a string of Tyco, Life-Like, and Athearn freight cars, with a Marx NYC caboose heading up the end

* A complete Allstate train in New Haven colors. Allstate trains were made by Marx for Sear's Allstate line. More on Allstate trains in a future video

* A Green Giant promotional train, again made by Marx for the Green Giant corporation. The promotional train set was originally battery powered, but we are obviously running it on regular DC power in this video. Included in the train is a Northern Pacific boxcar was sold in another of Marx's battery powered sets.

Enjoy this throwback to 60 years ago!
