This line connects Shibaura Bus Depot and Tamachi Station East Exit to Roppongi Hills.
With the opening of the Toei Oedo Line and the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line in 2000, the Toei bus system, such as the Tamachi No.70 line, was abolished in Minato Ward, leaving a transportation vacuum in the area. Although Minato Ward approached the Tokyo Metropolitan Transportation Bureau about building a new line, the policy of not opening an alternative line when the Oedo Line and the Nanboku Line were opened and the lines were discontinued remained unchanged. This led to the establishment of a community bus service led by Minato Ward, which began operating in October 2004 along with the Akasaka route.
In the first year of operation, the total number of users was 303,000, but by 2008, it had grown to 1.18 million, with the number of users increasing every year. As a result, medium-sized buses will be introduced for the Tamachi route. Incidentally, CHI-I BUS was the most efficient in terms of revenue and expenditure, and even though the fare was uniformly 100 yen, there were some years when it was in the black.
Basically, the system is based on a circulation route starting at the east exit of Tamachi Station, but some services depart from and arrive at the Shibaura Bus Depot.
This line has a basic pattern of service every 15 minutes, but there are some services that run from Shibaura Bus Depot to Akabanebashi South at 7:00.
