In this video I will be showing you how to resize a sterling silver or gold ring. Ring sizing is a very common job that comes up when working in the jewelry field. Knowing how to size a ring can mean the difference between making a sale and not making a ring sale.

The ring sizing process is relatively simple however it does take a little practice. When your first start doing ring sizing you will have to learn to gauge how much metal add or remove. Ring sizing mandrels usually have a gauge on their side that indicates a measurement of metal to be added or removed.

The other main factor in sizing a ring is the solder seam its self. A large gap in the seam of the ring will not allow the two ends to be soldered together properly. If this happen and the rings seam is filled with solder as a filler it can cause the ring to become weak at the solder joint.
Any easy fix to this problem is to make sure that the two ends are flush when they are put together.

Resizing a ring is all about getting the right size and a good seam. At the end of this video I will give you another video to help you get the perfect solder seam.
