As we all know at this stage the Cork 20 Rally should have been taking place this past weekend but for obvious reasons this was not to be, but to make up for that we go back to the 1987 Event which was held in changeable conditions which can often be the case on this Rally, it was an Event that brought plenty drama with many competitors falling foul to the tricky conditions including Billy Coleman in the BMW M3, Simon Davison in the Sierra Cosworth and early pacesetter Bertie Fisher in his Manta 400, all on the same corner on the 3rd stage of the Rally, it was to be an Event that will go down in the history books as being the final competitive Run out for Billy Coleman who on this Event ended his competition career which spanned over 20 years with huge success along the way, in the end Austin McHale picked up the pieces to take the win but Austin had his troubles too as his Car was refusing to start at the beginning of the Event and he nearly didn`t get going at all but in the end Austin scored a comfortable victory over Vincent Bonner in his Ascona 400 with David Meade rounding out the Top 3 in his Ford Escort, once again Alan Tyndall and Team were on hand to record proceedings and we would like to thank both Alan and Pat Sullivan Carrignavar for the use of this footage, Enjoy.
