Lindsay Hawker was born on December 30, 1984, into the loving embrace of her parents Bill and Julia Hawker. They were Coventry folks, but their roots stretched back to Brandon, Warwickshire. Lindsay hit the books at King Henry VIII School in Coventry. Then, off to the University of Leeds for biology, where she nailed a first-class honours degree in 2006. Now, she had plans for a Master's, but life took her on a different path. In October 2006, she jetted off to Japan and taught English for a year at Nova, the big cheese of English conversation schools back then. She was stationed at the Koiwa branch in Tokyo. It was here, amidst the bustling streets and kaleidoscopic culture of Japan, that Lindsay found herself drawn to the art of language...
