To protect the contents of the woodshed from rain, snow and prying eyes, I came up with homemade roller shutters. Awning material - PVC fabric, density 110g / m. The awning was larger than necessary and had to be cut. I cut off all the eyelets, and reinforced the edges with hem, double-sided tape and PVC twine. No soldering was needed, and the tape holds very tightly - so I recommend it. As a drum, I used a plastic drainpipe with a diameter of 90 mm from Docke. A 14mm stud is used as the axles, with the corresponding nuts and washers. He made pulleys and other round parts using a drill and crowns - 89 and 60 mm. I also made the pulling weights from the scraps of the drainpipe, filling them with dry sand. The weight of the weights can be increased by filling them with crushed stone with sand, or with metal objects. In my case, their mass turned out to be enough for the reliable operation of the mechanism, while the awning can be stopped at any height and it will not run away anywhere. Rises very easily, literally with one finger. You need to pull down with some effort. As a counterweight for weights and a bar that would help the awning stay evenly stretched, I used two slats with a section of 40x20 mm and a length of 3 meters.
The logs' opening is 308 cm wide, the awning slightly does not reach the edges of the opening.
