Unfortunately we caught no trout. Actually caught a large Northern Pike at a lake that wasn’t supposed to have Pike in it. The way it felt and with the headshakes for a little bit I couldn’t tell it was a Pike, and from the dept the fish were I thought it could have been a Lake Trout or Walleye. I had all my fast sinking fly line out and was rapidly stripping line back in when the fish struck. This caused all my loose line to wrap around any object it could and I was unable to reel in the fish and no line could go out. I had to use nail clippers (that I use to trim knots) to cut and free up my fly line. Finally after a good fight I landed a 36”+ Northern Pike. One of my best friends whom I was fishing with landed an almost carbon copy of the fish I landed. It’s hard to tell in the video but it’s size and weight caused his landing net to collapse. Luckily have this fish on video.
