Please visit us at: http://botanyboy.org/ Each year in early July one of Japan’s most celebrated orchids comes into bloom, Neofinetia falcata, often called samurai or wind orchids in the west. Specialized forms of this plant are called fukiran in Japan, literally translating as wealth and rank orchid or riches and honors orchid. In this video you will see me cycle across the vast city I live in to an orchid show featuring these wonderful plants. The next day I climb a nearby mountain hunting for another orchid in the wild, Oreorchis patens. The last 8 minutes is video of the ride home. Please come join me on this orchid road trip adventure!
