The last few days I’ve been going through old videos on my phone, looking for the songwriting snippets that I record throughout the day for one that i’ve been wanting to work on lately. At the same time I have been astonished at how my playing and singing have changed it very the course of even just a couple years. It’s encouraged me to re-record some of them to see how they sound in my style now.

This one, Make Me Down a Pallet on Your Floor, I have always played with a strong influence from Gillian Welch’s slower, imploring, yearning version, but I have really been trying for more of a Doc Watson sound (the bounciness - not the incredible dextrous skill that I will never be able to emulate) on the guitar recently and I think this recording reflects that.

I could decide between two versions - low and high vocals - so I’m uploading both. This is the low version.
