The Nuzlocke run: a famous fan-made ruleset to make your Pokémon playthrough much more harrowing. Up until now, I've mostly enjoyed these just as an outside observer, and I got to wondering: what's the appeal of this thing, anyhow? In order to find the answer to that question, I committed to playing through a Nuzlocke run of my own. This is that story.
