Step recorder is a nice little step sequence Max For Live device that I made for my Ableton Push 3 Standalone, but it should work with all Push versions and also with any other midi controllers. It records notes directly into an Ableton clip in the selected slot, so you can quickly input your sequence and then edit however you want.
