Deep in the heart of South Africa´s Cape region, a sanctuary houses big cats that have endured suffering in the wild. Our very own “Tiger Queen” Cathrine welcomes us to Panthera Africa near the town of Stanford, to share unforgettable moments with these majestic beings.

Together with her wife Lizaene, Cathrine started this unique venture to protect and care for animals with whom she is bonded to her core. The sanctuary offers them a place of refuge and somewhere to be taken care of for the rest of their lives.

Panthera Africa is just one of many organisations supported by enpact and the TUI Care Foundation´s Tourism Recovery Programme, which included online training, one-to-one mentoring with a sustainable tourism expert and financial support. The programme is supported by the GIZ - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit on behalf of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
