Sentos (銭湯) - traditional Japanese bathhouses are still a fixture of many residential neighbourhoods in towns and cities throughout the country. This video shows what a visitor can expect with a tour of a well-regarded Sento in East Tokyo, presented by the grandson of its founder.

Tatsumi-yu Sento in Kiyosumi-shirakawa is tattoo-friendly and welcoming of Westerners generally. It’s a low-key, community facility with a gigantic manga collection, TV, couches and drinks. There are no additional charges for hairdryers or lockers, and there’s plenty of free space for changing and relaxation.

The baths are open from 1pm to 12am every day except Monday*
Cost: ¥550 for the baths, and an extra ¥300 for sauna and/or towel hire.
The lockers, hairdryers and chilled filtered water are free (bring your own bottle, or buy a paper cup for ¥10).

unless that Monday is a national holiday, in which case it's closed the following day instead.

Here’s a map link and as you’ll see the nearest rail station is Kiyosumi-shirakawa (Oedo and Hanzomon Metro Lines), 4 minutes walk away.
