Bharatpur fort, also known as the Lohagarh fort, the British surrounded this fort several times and attacked it but failed. In 1805, the British commander Lord Lake attacked this fort with his huge army and artillery but could not win this fort of Lohagad.Maharaja Suraj Mal, who was counted among the powerful kings of his time, had built many forts, the strongest fort being the Bharatpur Fort.
The invincible fort of Bharatpur:
The main goal of Maharaja Suraj Mal was to build such a strong fortification of Bharatpur that Jai should be invincible and to become the safe capital of his kingdom, so he built the fort of Bharatpur. There were countless cannons in this fort. Among them, there was a cannon that could throw a 6-pound ammunition, it took 40 pairs of oxen to pull this cannon.The construction of this fort started in 1832-33 AD which was completed in 6 years. On the four sides of this fort, 250 feet wide and 20 feet deep moat is built. The fort has a wall and a mud wall. Talking about the city, it was founded by Thakur Churaman Singh Jat in 1800 but later it was decorated and decorated by the ruler Maharaja Suraj Mal.Bharatpur Museum:
The ancient weapons of Bharatpur are still preserved in the Bharatpur museum. This museum used to be the administrative section of the Shashakas of Bharatpur. This palace used to have a king's court and it was called Kachari Kalan.
Jawahar Burj:
On the four sides of the Lohagad Fort, there are four bastions, the most famous of which is the Jawahar Burj, four walled enclosures are built on the sides of this bastion, on the fourth side of the bastion, there is a round platform of eight feet in height, in the middle of which is 18 feet high iron pillar. It is thought that the pedigree of Bharatpur royal family is written on this pillar. After the death of Maharaja Suraj Mal, his son Maharaja Jawahar Singh made plans to attack Delhi on this fort and did something with this fort, so this fort is also called Vijay Fort.
