00:00 - Intro

BAD:

0:41 - Range

The i5 M60 is rated at just about 260 miles of EV range
But it’s less than the around 400 miles you get in the Model S
And you’re going to get similar range in the Lucid
But it is a touch more than the 240ish miles of range in the Audi eTron Gt
And a little more than the 250ish miles in the Porsche Taycan
And it’s way more than the 225ish miles you’ll get in the comparable EQE AMG

1:31 - Power

The i5 M60 packs 593 hp and 586 lbft and it does feel proper quick - at no point did I feel like I need MORE power, but these videos compare against the context of competition
The i5 then packs more power than
The Audi eTron GT, but less than the RS eTron GT
Same thing for the Taycan and Taycan Turbo
But it does pack less power than the 677 hp in the EQE AMG
It’s also less than the 620 hp in the Lucid Air Touring
And if course less than the Model S Plaid

But of course i’ll remind everyone that this is the m60, not the i5M so there could be even more power down the road - but even still this thing is doing 0-60 closer to 3.5 than 4 seconds…like is that not fast enough n your midsize luxury sedan?

GOOD:

3:01 - Price

The i5 M60 starts at just over 81k and as-tested we creep JUST oer 90k
Sure it’s a lot of money
But it’s a couple thousand LESS than the Model S Plaid
It’s about 10k less than the comparable Lucid Air
It’s almost 30 grand less than a EQE AMG
It’s over 20k less than a BASE eTron GT

3:53 - The drive

Here’s the thing, some these cars are kind of fringe comparisons
So let’s just talk about the i5 for a second and what I’m feeling
This is, in essence, a M550 replacement
Do i miss the V8?
Of course
But the M550 was more of a fast 5 series than a cheap M5
And this i5 M60 is a beautiful continuation of that
This thing is heavy, but it is neck snappingly fast
And it makes Fun sounds
But it’s also a faultless luxury car
Adaptive dampers of course but also Air suspension in rear
Active anti-roll bars
Disconnect when going straight for better ride
rear steer

5:30 - The look

This is the most controversial thing about BMWs lately
But this new 5 looks great!
Light up grille perimeter…unnecessary
Radar slapped in middle of grille
M logo in grille
Brooklyn gray
Hood bulge
Very similar headlights to new X5
21 in wheels
Removable aero fins
M wing mirrors
Hoffmeister kink with 5 embossed
Carbon lip spoiler

6:47 - The gaming gimmick

What to do when charging?
400V architecture
10-80% in 30 minutes
You can play games on the center screen with your phone
And that’s just kinda fun
It’s a total gimmick
You’re going to charge at home and probably never use this
But it’s good to see some levity and having fun from Munich

7:36 - Trunk

It’s a normal sedan trunk
Much bigger than EQE
Bigger than Taycan and eTron GT
But it is smaller than the Lucid’s trunk
You dont get a frunk like you would in the Tesla and Lucid
And of course it’s not a hatch style like the Tesla

8:09 - Rear seats

More than Audi and Porsche
Similar to EQE
Less than Lucid and Tesla
Good size
Floor feels high
Drivetrain tunnel
Heated rear seats
No rear pockets
iPad brackets

8:52 - Tech features

Full color HUD
Full digital cluster
Newly updated iDrive 8.5
New graphics
New climate menu is better
Can set footwell temp individually
Wireless ACP & AA
Native nav works really well for finding charging and route planning

9:48 - Design & Luxury bits

Crystal
Crushed glass design
Speaker covers are dope
Pano roof
Heated and cool seats
Heated steering wheel
Heated rear seats

10:24 - Autopilot

Driver assist plus is amazing
No adaptive cruise as std?
Level 2 autonomy
The car will request to change lane
You approve the request by looking in the mirror

I know a lot of the competitors here have very good autopilot systems as well, but I’m pretty familiar with the BMW system now and I really like it

11:23 - POV Drive

Very quiet and supple ride
Just easy to drive
Brakes feel surprisingly natural
b mode for 1 pedal driving
Steering
Really fast
Powered anti roll bars option
Ride is excellent
Over 5200 lbs curb weight
Driver Assist plus is epic
Feels more like a fast luxury car than a sporty and nimble electric M car
But honestly, no one is taking this thing to the track so I think it’s pretty much exactly what it needs to be
