My most memorable rail adventure took place in October 2000 with a steam rail tour of the North and South Islands of New Zealand. At least one of the venues no longer exist and it is almost certain such a mega steam trip will not happen in the future due to lack of NZR steam qualified drivers. I remember at least 15 operating steam locos during the 2+ weeks I was there. We rode behind Steam locos built in New Zealand, Great Britain, and the USA dating back to the 1870's. Pease excuse the video quality as I was using equipment at least 23 years old as of date of upload. I think the locos, scenery, and amazing runbys are worth a watch in any case.
