Tierra Kaliente is one of Havana’s hottest new dance companies. Directed by Karelia Despaigne, the group’s fundamental mission is to promote Cuban music, dance and culture and to bring together the most talented dancers for classes and performances. Karelia and the other founders are from Santiago de Cuba, known as the tierra caliente (hot land) of Cuba, from which their inspiration springs.
