I absolutely Love Lord of the Rings, in fact some of my favourite mods in Total War are based on the universe of Middle Earth. Dawnless Days is an obvious one of course and I cannot wait to get my hands on the campaign, but there’s also the highly underrated Last Alliance mod on Shogun 2. There’s Third Age, Divide and Conquer on Medieval 2, Fourth Age Total War, there are just so many to choose from. But there was another.

If you’re a true Lord of the Rings gamer you probably know of and or have played Battle For Middle Earth 2, an RTS game like no other really that you can play on repeat privately or in public multiplayer which believe it or not after all these years is still so popular. Now there’s a mod for BFME2 that is truly the one Lord of the Rings mod to rule them all. I mean Dawnless Days may take that title one day but if you really want an immersive, super fun game set in Middle Earth right now, you need to play Age of The Ring.
