本詩根據耶利米哀歌三章廿二至廿三節，寫出他親身經歷了神守約的信實，以及他內心堅定的信念和感恩。托馬斯俄巴底亞奇澤姆（Thomas Obadiah Chisholm，1866 - 1960）自小家貧，只有小學程度但才華洋溢，當過教師和報社編輯；只任職一年牧師便因疾病辭職，這位大半生受病魔折磨的作者，蒙神恩典卻活到了94歲的高齡。

祢信實何廣大，聖天父眞神，祢永遠不離棄愛祢的人，
Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father; There is no shadow of turning with Thee,
祢永遠不改變，滿有憐憫恩，昔在今在永在，我主我神。
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not, As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.

祢信實何廣大！祢信實何廣大！清晨復清晨，主愛日更新；
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see,
我一切所需用，祢都已預備，祢信實何廣大，顯在我身！
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided, Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!

耶利米哀歌三章廿二至廿三節：「我們不致消滅，是出於耶和華諸般的慈愛；是因祂的憐憫不致斷絕。每早晨，這都是新的；祢的誠實極其廣大！」

春夏秋冬循環，栽種又收成，日月星辰，時刻循軌運行，
Summer and Winter and Springtime and Harvest, Sun, Moon, and Stars in their courses above;
天地宇宙萬物，皆同作見證，述說我主信實，慈愛永恆。
Join with all nature in manifold witness, To Thy great faithfulness, mercy, and love.

祢信實何廣大！祢信實何廣大！清晨復清晨，主愛日更新；
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness! Morning by morning new mercies I see,
我一切所需用，祢都已預備，祢信實何廣大，顯在我身！
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided, Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord unto me!

Lamentations 3:22-23: “It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is Thy faithfulness!”

祢赦免我罪愆，賜我永平安，祢常與我偕行安慰扶助，
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth, Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
日日加力，更賜我光明盼望，祢賜豐盛恩惠，勝過千萬。
Strength for today, and bright hope for tomorrow, Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside.

Thomas Obadiah Chisholm (1866 - 1960) suffered ill health most of his adult life and had a smaller than average income. He was inspired by Lamentations 3:22-23 to write the text for this hymn.
