No matter their occupation, all members of HMCS CHIPPAWA are sailors first and are trained in the use of small arms. Each year sailors are given opportunities to keep these skills sharp. In April 2021, members of the Ship’s Company enjoyed a day at the range improving their skills and contributing to the strength of HMCS CHIPPAWA, the Naval Reserve, and the Canadian Armed Forces. Participating in the range training today is Sailor 3rd Class Mauli Patel, a Boatswain with HMCS CHIPPAWA as well as a student and undergraduate researcher at the University of Manitoba.

Tous les membres du NCSM CHIPPAWA, indépendamment de leurs métiers, sont des matelots avant tout et doivent être qualifiés sur le maniement des armes à feu. Pour ce faire, ils participent à un exercice annuel au champ de tir. En avril de cette année, les membres du NCSM CHIPPAWA ont eu la chance de se requalifier, contribuant ainsi au maintien de la force opérationnelle de l’unité, de la réserve navale et des forces armées canadiennes. La matelot de troisième classe Mauli Patel, manœuvrier au NCSM CHIPPAWA, est étudiante et recherchiste à l’Université du Manitoba.
