This is the first of two videos that I will be uploading that shows my take on the very popular excursions on Buckingham Branch’s Virginia Scenic Railway that are pulled by the Norfolk & Western 611 J class steam locomotive. Built in May of 1950, this 4-8-4 locomotive is among the most famous of steam engines, and is always a favorite to see amongst railfans. Throughout the month of October, the 611 has been used to power the VSR’s Shenandoah Valley Limited, which takes passengers on a scenic journey from Goshen, VA to Staunton, VA and back. In this video, you’ll be treated to fall foliage, the 611 working up grade to the highest point of altitude on the former C&O, and much more. Please enjoy!
