Devotees to get free ‘Mahaprasad’ at Puri Jagannath temple soon: Odisha Law Minister The Odisha government, led by Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, plans to offer free Mahaprasad to devotees at Puri Jagannath Temple after the Kartika month. The initiative will incur an annual cost of Rs 14-15 crore, and the Minister encourages devotees' support.The Odisha government is planning to offer free Mahaprasad to devotees visiting the Puri Jagannath Temple soon, informed Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan. Announcing this on Sunday, the Law Minister said modalities are being worked out and the initiative would begin after the holy Kartika month.He also requested a few noble persons and devotees to come forward and extend a helping hand as the initiative would put an additional expenditure burden of Rs 14-15 crore per year on the government.


The GPR survey report on the condition and hidden aspects of the Ratna Bhandars at Sri Jagannath Temple is anticipated in two to four days. Conducted by an ASI team, this survey aims to reveal any hidden chambers. Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan stated that subsequent actions will be based on the findings, including handling potential treasures.The Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) survey report, conducted to assess the condition of both the ‘Bahar’ and ‘Bhitar’ Ratna Bhandar of Sri Jagannath Temple and to determine the existence of any hidden chambers to tunnels, is most likely to come in a couple of days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a low-pressure area forming over the southwest Bay of Bengal around October 14 due to a cyclonic circulation in the region. The upper air cyclonic circulation influences central south Bay conditions.Acyclonic circulation lay over the southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining equatorial Indian Ocean extended up to middle tropospheric levels. Under its influence, a low-pressure area will likely form over the southwest Bay of Bengal around October 14, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).As per IMD, upper air cyclonic circulation over central parts of the south Bay of Bengal lay over the southwest Bay of Bengal in lower tropospheric levels.
