Divers Butch, Daniela, Trout, Curt and myself, with first time bubble watcher Cindi, dove the Sea Girt Shipwreck on the dive boat Venture III with Captain Paul and 1st Mate Ruth. The Sea Girt Wreck is an unidentified wooden sailing ship in 80 feet of water not too far from Shark River Inlet, Belmar, New Jersey, where the Venture III is docked. Captain Paul reminded all the divers that the bell has never been recovered. You never know what you might find on an old shipwreck.
Spearfishing for Fluke and Blackfish was on the agenda for a few of the divers. Unfortunately, Sea Bass was not in season. A few Fluke were had as well as one nice size Lobster.
An unexpected surprise were the Mauve Stinging Jellyfish floating in the current, a rare sight in New Jersey.
It was a perfect day on and under the water.
