Welcome to Whinlatter Forest Park and Whinlatter MTB trails.

Located in the Lake DIstrict, Whinlatter MTB trail centre is undoubtedly one of the better trail centres in the country. It comprises of the North and South Loop, with various iterations, allowing a mountain bike rider to have an awesome day out.

The gradings at Whinlatter are as follows:

BLUE – Quercus Trail 7.5km, 0.5-1 hour
RED – Altura Trail North Loop 9.5km, 0.5-2 hours
RED – Altura Trail South Loop 10km, 0.5-2 hours

I decided to ride at Whinlatter to see how it stood up against other trail centres that I've ridden. I have to say that I was really impressed.

The other thing I wanted to do was test out my theory that the modern hardtail is the ultimate trail bike. I believe it is! There is no doubt that modern hardtails suit these kind of trail centres, way more than a long travel full suspension bike.
