‘The Mark’ is the latest release from the upcoming album ‘Rooms With A View’, a collaboration between Donna Lewis and Holmes Ives which charts Donna’s year long journey through breast cancer.
"This song is all about the experience I had with the radiation treatment for Breast Cancer ,
Before radiation begins one is mapped out and 4 tattoo marks are tattooed on your body. My first tattoos!! I was so nervous before each and every session started, 5 days a week for 5 weeks, but once I was on the table it became my meditation time. The deep inhale of breath, holding the breath, exhaling, being aware of the red radiation lights when I would imagine the cancer dust being obliterated".

Lyrics

you map me out
so carefully
connecting to the core

line me up
spread my wings
I can do it
give me something to hold tight
tell me when
tell me when I can breathe out
trace the flow of my body
leave your mark
but don’t leave me
tell me when
tell me when I can breathe out

pin point the distance
pin point the wavebands
move my head in the right direction
everything in true perfection

line me up
spread my wings
I can do it
give me something to hold tight
tell me when
tell me when I can breathe out
trace the flow of my body
leave your mark
but don’t leave me
tell me when
tell me when I can breathe out

sounds to words
there’s a white light somewhere
sounds to words
deep breath red light on
sounds to words
there’s a white light somewhere
sounds to words
deep breath red light on

line me up
spread my wings i can do it
I can do it
Leave your mark on me
line me up
spread my wings i can do it
I can do it
Leave your mark but don’t leave me

line me up
spread my wings i can do it
give me something to hold tight
tell me when
tell me when I can breathe out
