Tricolore

This is a pattern from around 1910 based on the classic Chenile or Palmered fly. It is similar to Hewitt’s BiVisible. Here the lightest hackle is in the back. The original order is light grey ash in the rear, reddish brown in the middle and badger at the head. There is a tail of reddish brown hackle fibers and a small body of black.

Andre Ragot popularized the fly and made several variations. One with yellow at the head and another with black.

Enjoy!
